12th Grade English: Students are first introduced to Richard Wright's novel Native Son. Discussion about themes of race, poverty, violence (or antiviolence), etc.

Shakespeare: Begin Act I of Othello.

Creative Writing: The class will begin their acrostic name poems after a short warm-up. We'll spend a little while discussing edits in small groups. The final copy is due Monday after class.
